How it works: (for now, this is only a summary of what you could do with these e-books)

1. Buy an e-book with resell rights

What that means is that you can store it and sell it from your web site for any price above the specified X price in the reseller rights information of the e-book - yes, the author can sue you if you don’t respect his conditions, after all, that’s HIS/HER WORK and not yours

2. If you have ‘ GIVE AWAY” rights for it, DO IT

It is a freebie for your website visitors after all, and he may come back for more!

3. If you don’t have the right to give it away, don’t do it!

4. If the rights say that you can give it away as a site membership freebie, then charge a small site membership fee and give the e-book away.

5. If the rights specify that you can offer it as a bonus when a customer buys any other product from you, offer it as a bonus! You are going to say: ” Hey, why would I want to give it away for free? I paid money for this e-book!”

And I would say : “So what?”

Cause here is the deal:

- You want your first time visitor to come back your site for more and more and more …

- You want your site members to be happy with their $2/month membership

- Most important: Some of these e-books come with a rebranding option, meaning that all the referral links INSIDE the e-book will be yours at the point when you rebrand the book ( Ebook Resale Right - similar to Viral Marketing - click here)

Example:

Let’s say you buy an e-book called “Weight Loss 101 ” ( maybe it even exists); at a first brainstorm, what could you have in a book like that? I would say:

- Weight Loss Pills

- Weight Loss by Dieting

- Weight Loss by Exercising

- Weight Loss with Patches

- Weight Loss with Whatever Else

Now, there are a lot of websites that the author could link for every method described in his e-book. Heck, what am I saying? He could probably link every WORD of his e-books to a web site with related products - if he wanted to.

If every link is your referral link, what do you think it is going to happen? Any not-that-thin customer that downloaded the FREE “Weight Loss 101″ e-book will click at least one link in that ebook because he is interested in this type of products. That’s why he downloaded it in the first place.

Now you figure out the rest!

eBay is now the 8th most visited site on the internet and it has
just one purpose - sales. With 40 million visitors per month
most eBay sellers are missing a golden opportunity. They are
missing the opportunity to cultivate long term clients.

It is a proven fact in marketing that you will continue to buy
over and over again from people and companies that you know,
like and trust. Yet 95% of all internet marketers fail when it
comes to eBay. Most are looking for the fast buck. They have
completely miss the opportunity to use eBay as a lead generation
tool. They miss the opportunity to create a list of people that
will be willing to consume your products over and over again.

Lead generation on eBay can be accomplished in several ways. The
most popular way is by using the self liquidating ad. A self
liquidating ad is one that pays for itself. In other words your
customer directly pays your advertising costs. They purchase
from you, some form of advertising.

Let me give you an example of a self liquidating advertisement.
Recently I saw in a magazine an ad for a pair of sunglasses. The
ad claimed that the sunglasses were free you just had to pay the
shipping and handling costs. My guess is that the advertiser
probably wasn’t making much if any money on the sunglasses. But
they also weren’t losing any money. The shipping and handling
most likely covered their actual costs. What they really wanted
was something far more valuable - your contact information and
your “permission” to market to you. In other words they are
looking for qualified prospects - prospects that are interested
in the products and services they are selling.

Once a company has your contact information and “permission” to
market to you, they will begin to establish a relationship. They
will do this in a variety of ways including sending you ads for
other product and services you may be interested in. Over time
most customers will be worth many times more than their initial
purchase.

Since eBay is purely commerce site it is a perfect place to do a
self liquidating ad. Let’s look at an extreme example. Let’s
pretend that you own a car dealership that only sells high end
cars. We will assume that your average car sells for $65,000.
One way you could use a lead generation self liquidating ad
would be by “selling” a special report. For example you could
sell a report on eBay entitled “18 Ways to Drive the Car of Your
Dreams for Less Than the Cost of a Yugo”.

Do you think a report like that would get some attention? You
bet it would. The report is really nothing more than an
advertisement for you. Of course you would have to write a
report that had real content and offered up ways for the
consumer to really do as the title suggests. A report like this
however, would cost you literally nothing to produce - except
your time - and there would be no overhead, no inventory, and no
headaches.

Since this report would be nearly all profit you could set a low
“Buy It Now” price ($4.97) to attract a huge number of
prospects. The revenue generated would easily offset the eBay’s
seller fees.

In the report you could suggest several real ways for people to
drive a luxury car for little money. You could also list in the
report a resource for them to research. The resource you suggest
would of course be your car dealership.

The report did not cost you anything to produce or sell and it
fully paid for itself with each person that ordered. The person
buying the report is more likely interested in what you have to
offer and are therefore partially qualified. Anybody that
contacts you after reading the report is a fully qualified
prospect and should be marketed to aggressively.

Once you have their name and contact information you could send
them a weekly “hot sheet” of cars that you are trying to sell.
Once they purchase you could then sell them accessories and
branded clothing. If they were close to your shop you could sell
them on servicing. And the list goes on and on.

If you study eBay there very few people using it as a lead
generation tool. Yet lead generation and specifically
self-liquidating advertising is a proven winner. Almost every
type of business can benefit from lead generation advertising.
If done correctly lead generation advertising can actually
become another source of revenue for your company. Special
reports are one excellent low cost lead generation tool that you
can use. Look at eBay as more than just a fast buck. Look to
eBay as a way to create long term clients. eBay if worked
properly can be your best source of fresh leads and can really
explode your sales.

Have you ever wondered what goes on in a 16 year old male’s head?

Wonder no more. He is thinking about a girl or his ego. With a possible sprinkling of history.

In his book, “The World,” John Kearns drops you into someone’s mind. And I do mean drop. There is no introduction, no warning, and no explanation. You, as the reader, must wade deeper into the book as The Youth/ The Artist explores and interprets his life. After discovering his destiny on page 48, the center of his life is the basic boy-meets-girl. Unfortunately, this relationship exists mainly in The Artist’s head. In addition, The Artist is consciously separating himself from his parents, even as he unconsciously acts out their neuroses and expects their life. All the while, he swings from one extreme emotion to another; his future on the launch pad waiting for a date with that one special 14 year old girl. But how many teenage crushes are happily-ever-afters? Do not expect a happy ending.

Do expect an enlightening book. This book was much more educational than any “What to Expect When You Have a Teenage Boy” book could ever be. However, this is not a simple and easy book to read. It was 20 years in the making by a Poet with a Master’s degree in English. It is practically a textbook example of descriptive writing, and seems to have been written to be Discussed. (Note capital letter.) The Artist takes comfort and self-esteem from describing moments in foreign languages and an embedded part of the book is the layering of what is happening to The Artist now, a flashback of then, bridged and explained by his musing about Irish history and myths. Transitions within the chapter are nonexistent.

Am I glad I read this book? Yes. Could you read this book more than once? Yes. I’m sure reading it multiple times will deepen your understanding of this book since there are many layers of meaning deliberately crafted into this story. While this book has a strong autobiographical feel, I’m sure John Kearns’ fans, a fan of Irish history, or anyone who was once a 16 year old boy will resonate with “The World.”

Where Al Franken’s’s last book was Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them was funny, educational, and inspiring, his new endeavor, The Truth (with Jokes) is scary and a little depressing.

Don’t get me wrong– there are a few sections in the book that are really funny, but those parts seem to be scarce. One such hilarious comes a Al realizes that one of his favorite people, Sean Hanity seems to completely ignore any attempts to thwart his lies. He goes on as if they were truth regardless of the facts. Thus, Al takes a different approach to fighting them. Al debunks a list of Sean Hanity’s accusations of John Kerry being a “flip flopper”, and after each one makes up a lie about Sean Hanity, as Al see this as a better way to combat him. Now, the individual lies aren’t all that funny in and of themselves, but Al seem to have great execution in this section. Comics often talk about timing as being the most important aspect of doing comedy well. I used to think this rule only applied to the spoken word, but Al managed to keep me laughing through this entire chapter. Just as my laughter subsided, all would present another lie about Hanity that would start my laughter al over again.

But alas, most of the book wasn’t very funny. Certainly there were places that it was obvious that it was supposed to be funny, and many that invoked a grin, but nothing like what I have come to expect from Al Franken. Maybe his 3 hour a day radio show has drained his previously overstocked supply of really funny jokes.

Also, the book seems to be lacking any inspirational call to action. There is a lot of time spent on how much Bush and Company screw up, and how their policies are driving our country off a cliff, but almost none on how we can move forward as a party.

But, don’t think that this is a bad book, or that it isn’t worth reading. It is really an eye opener in many ways. Al tells us of the unethical, greedy adventures of Jack Abramoff and his friends in Congress. He exposes the real reasons Kerry Lost in 2004 Most prominently he shows how badly the Bush administration screwed up in Iraq. Prior to Al’s well cited explanation, I was under the assumption that although Bush led us into an unjustified war with Iraq, he had done as good a job as an would at the execution of the war. Boy was that wrong. By closing his eyes and ears to the advice of many really smart people on both sides of the political spectrum, Bush fought a war based on positive-thinking rather than real strategy based in reality.

My advice is, borrow this book from a friend or your local library. At least wait until it comes out in paperback. I do recommend reading it before the 2006 elections, as it really is a valuable political resource and its a quick read (I finished it in just over two days). But, if you’re looking for a good laugh, you’re probably better off turning on The Daily Show or cracking open the latest edition of the Onion.

Have you thought about what makes a person click one article over scores in a list? Yes. You’re right; the title captured their interest. It made them want to read what the writer had to say. It’s a little more complicated with ebooks but the rule still applies. Some researchers say book titles can create up to 90% of the pulling power in capturing a potential reader’s attention.

To sell more ebooks, you must create sizzling titles designed to hook your potential readers. One of the most important skills to develop as a marketer of your ebook is the skill of creating attention-grabbing titles. When you master this skill you may use it in every aspect of your writing to attract more readers, more subscribers, improve your cash flow and increase your profits.

You’ll need title writing skill for your ebook titles, chapter titles, sub-heading. Even bullet points will gain added pulling power if they are developed correctly. Your website will need passionate headings to capture the attention of your web visitors.

If you don’t want the articles marketing your ebook lost in the sea of information streaming into your reader’s consciousness each day, you must title them well. In fact, any marketing material from your 5 page sales letter or tri-fold brochure to the 2 line classified ad needs the attention grabbing power of a great headline.

Titles set the stage for your potential audience. They either will work to grab your potential reader by the collar and pull them in for the read or they don’t. Top titles create excitement, anticipation and enthusiasm for more. You want your titles to express the heart and passion of your message or be ‘the match’ that ignites your reader’s interest in reading your important message.

Develop this valuable skill and you add magnetic pulling power and punch to all your marketing documents including your front ebook cover and chapter titles that will get your message read. Start with these 3 top tips to sizzle your titles, headlines, bullets and sell more.

1. The Big Promise.

How to Increase Sales 400% by Using Short Articles

People will click away from hype and never come back. But if you have a big gun don’t be afraid to pull it out and use it. Consider carefully and use sparingly; then make your big promise and deliver. People will remember your promises and come back for more or purchase. Don’t forget to include the specific delivery or ‘how to’ in the copy beneath your big promise headline.

2. The Confusing.

3 Little Pigs Went to Market but One Went Faster

Develop curiosity into your title. A seemingly opposite simile works like a charm. Sometimes the title that doesn’t make a lot of sense will pull your audience in for the read. Would the title above arouse your curiosity? The confusing title can capture the attention of your audience just to see what it’s about.

3. The Top Benefit.

Think and Grow Rich

A winning non-fiction title immediately communicates the benefit readers will gain after reading your ebook. Benefit-oriented ebooks often use the problem-solution approach. Master (A) this skill or technique and get (B) this benefit. Readers buy most ebooks for a “benefit.” They want simple instructions that will help them, grow them, educate them, profit more, less expense, less trouble, gain more time, less stress, better relationships, better health, less drama, less trauma, more energy and vitality and less fatigue.

Don’t wait to develop this valuable skill. Add magnetic pulling power and punch to all your marketing documents including your ebook cover and chapter titles that will get your message read. Titles set the stage for your potential audience. They either grab your potential reader by the shirt or they don’t. Create your titles to be ‘the match’ that ignites your reader’s interest in reading your important message. Title well and prosper!

Jeez! Internet marketing Ebooks are everywhere. “Secrets
Revealed” and “Something-or-another Magic”. “10,000,000 Killer
Ideas” and “Instant Money Without Working For It”. And, of
course, the latest-and-greatest of all…

“How to Crank Out a New Ebook Every 30 Seconds!”

Is this what we call “the ebook craze”? A better name might be
the “Make-a-Quick-Buck Ebook Frenzy!”

Now, don’t get me wrong. I like ebooks. I like them a lot. I
love being able to place an order, click download, and be seeing
what I bought light up 480,000 pixels in blazing color on my
computer screen within a matter of minutes.

But, I also want those kilobytes of data to deliver real
substance. “Meaty” stuff that I can sink my teeth into and learn
from. Original ideas that dispatch a psycho-electric charge to
my brain and makes that little light in my head glow bright and
warm.

Sadly, it’s been a long while since an ebook has delivered much
more to my hard drive than the current you’d get from a nearly
dead AAA battery.

And is it any wonder? Some authors (and a few of them very
respected Internet marketers) are cranking out one ebook after
another. It seems the onslaught to cash in on the ebook craze is
creating an unending proliferation of poorly done ebooks.

So, how can you weed out the good ebooks from the bad? How can
you know which ones will deliver value for your hard earned
dollar BEFORE you make the investment?

Here’s a few “rules of thumb” that I think will serve you well
as you consider your next marketing ebook purchase:

#1 - A QUALITY PRODUCT WILL SELL ON IT’S OWN MERITS

I can’t remember how many ebook sales sites I’ve visited where
half to two-thirds of the sales copy was directed at all the
“valuable(?) bonuses” I’d get with my purchase. This kind of
site screams “LOW QUALITY!” to me.

I’ve always felt that true quality can stand on it’s own. A
product that delivers honest value needs no help from freebies
and will sell completely on it’s own merit.

#2 - A HIGH AFFILIATE COMMISSION CAN SIGNAL INFLATED PRICES

Check to see if there is an affiliate program for the ebook. If
so, look at the commission structure. While not always true, a
commission pay out of greater than 25-35% could mean you’re
paying an inflated price to make up for the commission.

With commission structures you must exercise your own good
judgement. Just remember that those who make their living by
selling other’s products through affiliate programs consider a
25-35% commission a fair return.

#3 - IS THERE A FREE TRIAL DOWNLOAD?

Look for a free trial download of one or two chapters from the
ebook. This is a very good sign of the author’s confidence in
the product and your opportunity to get a glimpse of what you’ll
be getting with the full “paid-for” version.

Always use this option if available. You can tell a lot about
the ebook and the quality of the content by reading a single
chapter. A free trial download generally comes with a
table-of-contents, too. Here you’ll get an idea if the ebook is
going to deliver MORE or LESS than what you expect for the price.

#4 - WATCH FOR THOSE “USE-IT-FOR-A-FULL-YEAR” GUARANTEES

Contrary to what you might believe, a LONG guarantee period
usually signals lower quality.

Think about it. Do you remember what you purchased a year ago?
This type of guarantee can lull you out of a sense of urgency to
evaluate your purchase. The author is likely hoping you will
“download-it-and-forget-it”.

I have much more confidence in my ebook purchases when there is
a simple 30 day “no questions asked” money back guarantee. It
signals to me that the author is confident that I will be a
satisfied customer.

#5 - “YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR” DOESN’T ALWAYS APPLY

Ebooks literally cost next to nothing to produce and deliver.
Therefore, the prices of digital products are determined
strictly from perceived value. And perceived value is directly
related to good (or bad) sales copy.

Do a little research on the author. Many times you will find
that the content of the author’s newest ebook is no more than a
collection of articles posted for FREE at his web site only
re-written in a little more detail.

Think twice before you shell out $97.00 plus for an ebook. With
the current ebook craze you RARELY get what you pay for.

#6 - ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS DEMAND VALUE

Is there a “no questions asked” money back guarantee? If there
is, and you DON’T find a value that meets or exceeds the price
you paid, USE IT!

Unfortunately, this “make-a-quick-buck” craze gives a black-eye
to the quality-conscious ebook publishers and their affiliate
programs. By demanding quality we may eventually see an end to
the current tide of low value ebooks.

The Lord Had Something Better in Mind by Barbara Robinson
Publish America, 1413706800, $19.95

Magnolia Roussel is a determined community college student and hard worker, wanting only to be as good as the boy her mother Myrtle always wanted but never had. Each spring sees her on the family strawberry farm trying to produce an acceptable crop, but when the Roussell berries are marked unclassified by Louisiana state inspectors Magnolia is forced to sell them on her own. With the Lord’s guidance, however, she is not worried.

The Lord Had Something Better in Mind takes the reader through Magnolia’s struggles–surviving financially, dealing with her mother’s constant superstitions, and (happily) her feelings for Andy Drag. Their romance blooms over steamy days of fishing and camping in the Manchac Swamps, so much that Magnolia’s love for God and the man who becomes her husband seems to be able to overpower her mother’s clucking over a black cat that once crossed their path.

As the story fast-forwards, Magnolia is the mother of a teenaged boy and worried sick about her husband’s mysterious disappearance during a hunting trip. In this troubled time Magnolia gives her grievances to God, accepting His will for her future over her mother’s lucky charms, and accepts what comes of it.

Reading the introduction of the story (which I would advise skipping if you don’t want to be spoiled to some parts of the story), the reader can tell immediately Robinson has put her heart into this story, as some parts are semi-autobiographical. Yet, The Lord Had Something Better in Mind falls victim to similar problems seen in books by this publisher, namely punctuation errors and lax editing (the narrative tends to repeat itself at times, slowing the story in parts). The scenes involving Andy’s disappearance and its conclusion draw a number of unanswered questions as well. Despite these pitfalls, Robinson presents an ambitious story suitable for fans of faith.
