Retired Plastic Surgeon Joel Roskind MD Set to Teach
After a 30 year stint as a plastic surgeon, New York’s Joel Roskind now plans to pass his experience to other physicians, both ordained and new. Established doctors may benefit from consulting with him in the areas of practice management and outpatient facility accreditation. On the clinical side, medical students at Boston University will have the chance to take Integrated Problems, a differential diagnosis course, from Dr. Joel Roskind.
Dr. Joel Roskind has been a medical renaissance man throughout his career. After completing his bachelors degree at Franklin and Marshall College and Hofstra University, medical school at the University of Louisville and internships at the Montefiore-Einstein Medical Center in the Bronx and St. Louis University Hospitals, he went on to a fellow ship at the Christine Kleinert Institute of Hand and Microsurgery in Louisville, Kentucky.
As a practicing surgeon, Dr. Joel Roskind witnessed firsthand changes in the healthcare sector leading to an increasing number of functions being performed outside the traditional hospital setting. Always patient oriented, Dr. Roskind’s cares about the safety of outpatient and ambulatory surgery facilities led to a long association with the AAAASF, including over 20 years of service as a facilities inspector. He is well positioned to aid operators of such facilities meet the highest quality standards demanded by insurers today.
Joel Roskind MD will also draw on his clinical experience to teach Integrated Problems at Boston University. The course will cover complex problems in differential diagnosis, a subject with which he is intimately familiar. Dr. Roskind also brings a wealth of knowledge in practice management, which deals with business aspects of medicine, such as hiring and training staff, setting up electronic systems and patient relations.
Making sure patients get the best possible care in the soundest possible environment has been a priority for Joel Roskind MD throughout his medical work. Although he is retired from active practice, Joel Roskind is looking forward to continuing to contribute to the medical field. In addition to instructing and advising, Joel Roskind MD also plans to pursue a long time personal interest in Judaic spirituality.
