Power supply is found on every personal computer. It is device where power is received from the alternating current and converted to direct current that is useable by the computer. It is located inside the CPU distinguished by cooling fan and the power-cord receptacle.

Since the power supply receives the first surge of alternating current, it heats fast when used and cools down when the computer is shut down. The heat produced by electric surge can cause the components to overheat more frequently than other parts of the CPU. As the consequence, the power supply is the particular part that is most prone to failure.

One most common symptoms of power supply failure is the inability of power to come on. Several reasons might cause this to happen. The first thing you should do is to check whether the socket has power. To do this, all you have to do is to unplug your computer and try other plug. It can be a radio or a lamp. If the radio or the lamp work, then you have to check whether your computer plug is already busted. This might be a rare circumstance but it is probable to happen.

Another thing worth checking is the voltage setting. At the back of the CPU where the power supply is visible, you can surely locate the voltage selector. Check if it is on the right setting, which is 220v. On a 110v country, set the power supply to 110V.

If in case the power comes on but there is no live screen, you may try shutting down the computer again. Booting for at least two times would make the power supply to stabilize. Usually, this happens when the motherboard demands more timing from the current power supply.

But if you have done this for several times and there is no sign of live screen, it is more likely that the motherboard protects itself. Don’t react violently if this happens; just buy a new power supply that the motherboard suggests. It is cheaper to buy power supply than to replace the motherboard so you should be thankful your motherboard does not accept the power supply.

Another common cause of power supply failure is the fan defect. If the power supply is working properly, you should not hear any cranking sound. You must also feel a breeze from the power supply. If you hear a cranking sound, there is no need to panic. Make sure that the sound is not caused by any solid object interfering with the blades of the fan. If you notice that the power supply fan creates noisy whistle-like sound, the cause could be the capacitor.

Power supply fan can be replaced. But make sure that it is removed by technicians because if you remove it improperly, you might get electrocuted even if the power has already been removed.

In the case of PC shutting down randomly by itself, make sure that the power supply maintains its right temperature. Also check if the fan is working properly. It could also be the cause of unstable power supply. If this happens, it is advisable to replace your power supply.

These are some but most common power supply problem. If one of these happens, it is always wise to check everything first before buying a new power supply.

You’re headed out on vacation and are debating whether to rent a car for your time away from home. Even if you’re driving to your vacation spot, a car rental can be a prudent investment, but there are some steps you can take to make the most of your car rental dollar.

Shop, shop, shop. The Internet is one of the best things that could ever have happened to comparison shopping. It takes only a little time and effort to get prices, terms and conditions for almost any product or service you can imagine, and a car rental is no exception. Start your shopping as early as possible because some car rental services will give you discounts for early reservations.

Shopping early will also help you plan your trip because you’ll have an accurate idea of what you’re going to be spending on your car rental. That’s much better than being blindsided by a price you can’t afford that will put your entire trip in jeopardy.

Beware of contracts and terms. Any car rental company is going to require a contract. This is equally true of the legitimate companies and those that are less-than-scrupulous. But you should never sign a contract without reading it carefully. Yes, it will take some time. Take it to a chair, sit down and read.

You may think there’s really no need to read the entire contract. After all, the nice sales clerk has assured you that you’ll owe only $29 when you return the car, and that IS what the company advertises on television. But the reality is that the contract overrides both the advertisement and the contract. If the contract calls for a $29 base fee with a surcharge of $2 per mile for every mile you drive, that’s what you’ll owe at the end of your trip.

When you pick up your car, check the odometer. Even though they’ll assure you that they read the odometer and that this is the mileage indicated, you should check for yourself. If you’re paying a “per mile” fee, even a few miles difference could be costly.

Be wary of handing out personal information to a car rental company online. Taking care of the business online is convenient and often a great way to save time. Just the same, take time to read the company’s privacy policy and beware of handing out personal information such as credit card numbers and bank account numbers to companies that you’ve never heard of. Be sure you’re dealing with a legitimate car rental company before you pay.

Do you market your products or services via the Internet to customers in California? Many businesses do, but hardly anyone is aware of a little known law in California that is intended to keep customers from being scammed by unknown website operators.

And one effect of the law is to make it more likely that you will need an autoresponder to comply with your disclosure requirements.

In a nutshell, before selling to California residents you must disclose your real name and address. California buyers are also entitled to receive that information by email, and it must be provided within five days of their request.

Here is what the law says. California Business and Professions Code section 17538(d) states in part:

‘A vendor conducting business through the Internet or any other electronic means of communication shall do all of the following when the transaction involves a buyer located in this state:

(1) Before accepting any payment or processing any debit or credit charge or funds transfer, the vendor shall disclose to the buyer in writing or by electronic means of communication, such as e-mail or an on-screen notice, the vendor’s return and refund policy, the legal name under which the business is conducted and, except as provided [ in other sections ] the complete street address from which the business is actually conducted.

(2) If the disclosure of the vendor’s legal name and address information required by this subdivision is made by on-screen notice, all of the following shall apply:

(A) The disclosure of the legal name and address information shall appear on any of the following: (i) the first screen displayed when the vendor’s electronic site is accessed, (ii) on the screen on which goods or services are first offered, (iii) on the screen on which a buyer may place the order for goods or services, (iv) on the screen on which the buyer may enter payment information, such as a credit card account number, or (v) for nonbrowser-based technologies, in a manner that gives the user a reasonable opportunity to review that information. The communication of that disclosure shall not be structured to be smaller or less legible than the text of the offer of the goods or services.

(B) The disclosure of the legal name and address information shall be accompanied by an adjacent statement describing how the buyer may receive the information at the buyer’s e-mail address. The vendor shall provide the disclosure information to the buyer at the buyer’s e-mail address within five days of receiving the buyer’s request.’

The best way to make sure that this disclosure information is provided, and provided in a timely manner, is to setup an autoresponder.

There are good resources available that will help you select the best autoresponder for your needs. One is located at http://affiliatemegaguide.com/autoresponder-review.shtml and the other is at http://autoresponderreview.com

One simple solution is to include an appropriately placed statement that customers can obtain the information about your company by emailing a request to a specified email address. That email address is setup with an autoresponder to automatically return the requested information.

Complying with the law can be easy. Knowing what laws need to be complied with can sometimes be the more difficult task.

Search Engine Optimization Tips + More31 Jul 2007 03:58 pm

When you get an e-mail from SEO Company with content similar to this:

“We submit your site on X00.000 search engines and directories…”

Stay far away from companies which offer you to submit your site on thousands of directories and search engines.

Why?

What they do is: they use submission software and advanced scripts and they submit your site to different guest books, local search engines, search engines in other languages, post your URL in comments in different Blogs, FFA etc…You will not have any benefit from this.

FFA stands for Free For All, pages which are designed to carry a designated amount of links on each page. Have in mind that when comes to link popularity relevancy counts and links form this pages will not going to help you much. Add to this that FFA pages have very limited life span, you will get the picture.

When some SEO company claims that they can guarantee #1 on Google

Why?

No one can guarantee #1 on any Search Engine! (Except the owner of course)

I can guarantee you first place in the search results in my Greek Business Directory, since I am the owner, but there is no chance that ethical and honest SEO company will give you such a guarantee in real life.

Even the biggest companies in SEO industry do not give such a guarantee. There are companies who claim that if they don’t achieve specific number of top 10 positions, you get your money back. Take even this with great caution, and be sure to read their guarantee 2 times, including the small letters on the bottom (if there are any). Many of them will attempt to propose you non competitive phrases, which will give you no traffic and therefore you will have no benefit from this.

When SEO Company offers you to get paid on base on delivered traffic

(Though THEIR domain)

Why?

Many SEO Companies offer to the prospective client’s deals on base on delivered traffic. This traffic to be measured easily, they propose new domain, or sub domain to be created, optimized and to deliver traffic though this domain. Be sure to ask which property will be that domain or sub domain.

If SEO Company told you that domain will be their property, your site will not be optimized. Here is what will follow: SEO Company will register domain name on THEIR name, and will optimize that domain for your keywords. They will redirect all traffic from that domain to your site.

You will be forced to pay monthly maintenance to that company and if you decide to stop their services, they will redirect their traffic to some other company in same industry. Keywords which worked well for you, will work well for your competitors too.

Fair and honest company might offer similar deal because of many reasons, but the domain from which the visitors will come will be YOURS, so if you want to change SEO Company, you will have the traffic directed to your site until the new company takes over, and your investment (optimized domain and the traffic) will remain your property.

In case that SEO Company doesn’t want to disclose the techniques which will use to rank high your website.

Why?

Legal and ethical SEO Company will give you very clear idea what they intent to do with your site, and will give you detailed plan of activities. You have to know that some SEO Companies use techniques forbidden by search engines and your site may get banned from the search engines because of this.

For example if your SEO company use thousands automatically created so called doorway pages, which are full of your keywords only and are useless to the visitors, your site might get banned because of this.

So be sure to ask your SEO Company what they intent to do, and which techniques they plan to use. Good SEO Company is always ready to educate their client to some level.

When SEO Company claim that you will see the results within 1 months

Why?

In this case, don’t walk away. Run!

If your site is brand new, it might take up to 3 months to get listed on major search engines. To get some results even in less competitive results, you should count that 4-6 months is the timeframe where you can expect to see first results. Note that if your website has 5-10 pages only, you will need much more content that this. SEO Company will have to add much new pages to your site, and that is time consuming task.

So, if the SEO Company claims that you will be on the top within a month, they have PPC (Pay per Click) in their mind, and that have nothing with Search Engine Optimization.

Conditioning and strength does play a very important role in the onset of cramps. It’s thought that a muscle that’s not properly conditioned will have an earlier onset of fatigue and this may lead to increased nervous stimulation and cramping.

Typically physical trainers for ball teams know that in the pre-season games and particularly the games played in hotter conditions and over extended periods (especially in the case of extra-time) will result in a ‘deluge’ of cramps.

In fact, as athletes and coaches well know, delaying the onset of cramps or preventing them can make the difference between winning and losing or getting a top three finish.

And that’s where physical conditioning along with the techniques of nutrition, adequate energy reserves, hydration, stretching and massage all come into play.

Understand your body, look after it and then work on your weak spots – those calves or quadriceps or hamstrings that are cramping. Get a Plan!

Here’s how you begin:
• Train to a Plan – Initially you can do this by starting a regular and committed training program. Plan your training sessions, plan your meals, take time to stretch and massage. Develop a better and regular means of delivering water and electrolytes to your body. Begin a supplement program if you can’t get enough of the right fresh foods to support your activities.

• 10% Per Week - don’t increase your exercise by more than 10% from week to week as this can induce cramping.

• Hit The Gym - The main benefits of working out lie in the prevention of injury, strengthening and conditioning of the muscles and in rehabilitation following an injury.

• Train Specifically – The best training routine will more closely resemble the body posture and muscle mechanics you have as you are running. You can find exercises in the gym that resemble what you do when you run or perform your chosen sport.

This last point leads us to the next stage of your training plan. You need to understand that training a particular muscle to be more powerful won’t make that muscle more powerful in competition, unless the precise movement patterns used in training are very close to those used in competition – and for that reason you must start to focus on exercises and training plans that resemble your focus sport.

In the case of running, for example, most of the leg exercises you find in the gym get the muscle moving in the vertical direction. But to build up your running performance, you need to simulate moving horizontally. The same is true of other sporting disciplines.

I’ll talk about this in more detail in another article, however the place to start is to take an outside look at your training program regularly and start creating routines that get the muscles into action.

Living With Management31 Jul 2007 01:10 pm

We consistently face new and ever growing challenges in
the workplace such as reorganizing, downsizing, and “left
out sizing.” We are faced with the question, “How do we
lead in this storm of change?” It may seem difficult at times
and the decisions we make define our short-term and long-
term outcomes. I will share with you five leadership
techniques guaranteed to keep you on track during these
difficult times.

1 Integrity.

I put this first because the lack of integrity will make or break
you as a professional, as a leader, as a person in the long
run. The lack of this will turn yesterday’s heroes in today’s
villains. For example, “MCI was the apple of the business
community’s eye. High revenues, high profits, and high
growth; MCI was beating the competition hands down.
Then it was discovered that there were gross accounting
irregularities that accounted for the astounding profits. You
see, management made a decision, “Do I continue to sustain
good growth and be able to look at myself in the mirror or do
I cook the accounting books and spend the rest of my time
covering up this integrity deficiency? The real shame of the
MCI situation was that AT&T, Sprint, and others in the
industry had to cut costs and lay off thousands of
employees to compete with MCI’s false numbers. The lack
of integrity at MCI not only affected the company but also
the livelihood of thousands and the industry as a whole.

I was recently speaking with a recently retired City Council
member who is well respected in the community. I asked her
what the secret was to her success while on the council? She
mentioned that one of her political adversaries said to her,
“While you were on the council, I didn’t like the way you
voted, but I respected the way you voted because you were
consistent with your votes and had the city’s best interest in
mind.” Ask yourself what decisions that you make are right
for the long term? Be consistent in your actions, whether it
is with management, your team, or your family.

2. Knowledge.

With change happening faster and faster every moment, it is
extremely important that you gain the knowledge to master
these changes. You owe it not only to yourself, but to your
team and management. As I always say, “It’s not having the
right answer, it’s that you have the right answer faster than
before.” Many times during my teambuilding programs a
student will say, “I didn’t know where to find the answer.”
Then I will say, “That is an unacceptable answer.” Because
part of being a leader is acquiring the skills to find the right
answers. With the Internet, classroom and online training,
mentors, etc., the knowledge is at your fingertips. Challenge
your team members to use the same resources to acquire the
knowledge to master their challenges. By acquiring this
knowledge, you will be able to navigate your team through
the ocean of change and achieve your goals.

3. Decisiveness.

You have seen them. They wait for information, then more
information before making a decision. Then they need more
information to support the information they already have.
Then they need a committee to analyze the information.
Then they wait for the perfect time to make the decision.
Well, you know what I mean. Anyone you know? Make the
decision! Good things happen when you take action; you
grow, you adapt, and your team grows. There is no perfect
time to make a decision. Leaders make decisions based on
past experience, putting into action the decision, and staying
and adapting the decision if needed. But make the decision.
The worst quality you can show your team is indecision.
What do you think your team sees when you can’t make a
decision? Make the decision and go for it.

4. Vision.

This is the ability not only to see what is the present -
anyone can do that - it’s the ability to see the future.
Outstanding leaders can not only see their team for what
they can do now, but what they can become, and paint the
picture for them. These leaders are consistently
communicating and coaching their team members to that
vision. One of the best ways, and least used methods, to
convey your vision is the team meeting (Teambuilding and
Coaching Skills for Outstanding Results). Every meeting
should start out with the team vision, mission, and goals;
and the rest of the meeting should tie into the vision. For
example, the motivation portion of the meeting should tie
into the vision, the information portion of the meeting should
tie into the vision, the training portion of the meeting should
tie into the vision, etc. Also, invest time to develop your
team members’ personal visions and show them how they
can accomplish their personal goals by tying into the overall
vision. By consistently communicating the vision, your team
will move with purpose, feel they are personally making a
difference, and achieve their goals sooner.

5. Unselfishness

Stephen Covey, in his successful book Seven Habits of
Highly Effective People, wrote that a true leader must be a
servant to the ones he or she leads. The leader must be able
to “give of oneself for the good of the team.” In other
words, be unselfish in words and action. Be unselfish in
praise of others, in public, especially in front of management.
Be unselfish in the ability to take time to listen, really listen
to your team’s concerns. A recent management survey said
that the average time management invests doing “pure
listening” to employees during the year is a mere two hours-
just two hours! What was meant by “pure listening” time
was listening with eye contact, acknowledgement, and not
answering the phone while listening, not speaking with
another person while listening, etc. Be unselfish in the
ability to help your team. Whether it’s the ability to readily
assist with a difficult telephone call, jump in and remove road
blocks for team members, or “be there” for a team member
during challenging moments. Believe me, your team will
remember those moments and excel for you.

Now I challenge you to put into action just one of the
leadership techniques I mentioned above to achieve your
vision, your mission, and your goals in the future.

Social Issues31 Jul 2007 01:09 pm

In the workplace - and when dealing with workplace matters - networking is a powerful tool. And the same is true in personal and social situations, where friends and family can provide you with a great support system, both as you make decisions about change in your life and as you carry them out.
Most of us already have a network, but many of us don’t know it, so we don’t use it. All of us can have a network, but most of us don’t do it, so we can’t use it. My recommendation? Build a network of people who can assist you in reaching your goals – and USE IT!

On a plain piece of paper, jot down the letters “A”, “B” and “C” with “A” at the top of the sheet, “B” about one-third of the way down the page, and “C at the two-thirds point. Then write some notes to yourself as you read.
The most powerful tool to use with a network is to “A” — ASK for help. (Write this down.) In fact, that’s what a network is for, and everyone knows it. Even those who network to develop business or to get a promotion know that even these selfish motives are, in their way, requests for help. Conversely, there’s a willingness to help…it’s a two-way street.

As wise men have said so many times, “Knowledge is power.” But, since none of us can have all the knowledge, no one of us can have all the power. However, the more we ask, the more we learn. The more we know, the more powerful we can be.

Of course, knowledge itself isn’t power (that’s only POTENTIAL power). How we use the knowledge makes the power KINETIC - puts it out there where it can command respect, earn us a raise or promotion, get us a job or some other recognition we really want.

Now for the “B” item. Often, change affects a whole group of people. In that situation, using your network means enlisting others who are being affected and sharing information. “B” is for Brainstorm – discuss ideas, opinions, strategies and tactical approaches among yourselves for the benefit of each and all of you. Perhaps you can use the space on your sheet to jot down some brainstorm ideas about who should be in your network, how to reach them, and so forth.

Finally, “C” - COMMUNICATE. TALK ABOUT YOUR IDEAS. There’s no better way of honing them to razor-edged sharpness in your own mind. And talking about Idea number one may spark Idea number 2 - which may come from someone else - and that idea may be even better. Also, when you share, others will share as well, and you’ll all feel supportive and supported.

Is this risky? It may feel that way, but that’s not really accurate. Even your most cherished and secret idea isn’t brand new. Most others don’t want it or care about it, anyway…but they’re often willing to help you realize it, so take the risk.

Look at your paper. Did you write down each of these key ideas? Now flesh out your outline, then get moving. Start your networking today. It’s as easy as “A,” “B,” “C!”

Net Info31 Jul 2007 12:58 pm

I suppose you’ve recently heard of RSS being the King of content. Many marketers and marketing gurus are in fact preaching around about RSS being the replacement for today’s viral marketing strategy.

For those of you who do not know what RSS is, it is by definition - Real Simple Syndication which is used to syndicate news and information, it is usually associated with Blogs because blogs use RSS feed to get the content publish. Some marketers translate it to Rich Site Summary, I personally call it Really Simple Spamming as a joke. :-D

What I see about RSS isn’t the replacement for viral marketing strategy, but merely a TOOL to automate your viral marketing method, boosting its speed of having your words spreading around like a new mutated virus that nobody can stop it in time.

As clearly as you can see, portal websites building is growing so quickly that this occult-like business is infesting all over the search engines. Search results show 40-50% of portal websites on any keyword that you search. This results the war between the sites builders and search engines, which also causing these portal websites even harder to be differentiated with other 100% hand-written websites. As far as I know, the new trend for SEOs and other portal-site-making gurus are teaching their followers to add contents into their portal websites by feeding RSS whether it is news related or articles.

The scene is like having a swamp of locust infesting all over the RSS directory sites, search and digging RSS links in bulk and direct the feeds into their portal websites. It is a great idea to harvest RSS feeds through the directory as the content are all nicely being categorized making them easy for whomever is searching.

What will amaze you more is once your RSS feed catches these builders’ attention, they will add your RSS feeds to their websites, where you’ll gain all those FREE advertising and back links.

As I mentioned they will come in swamp at the above paragraph, I wasn’t joking at all! Ten of thousands of them come to harvest your content feeds. Imagine having 10% of them picked at your RSS and feed into each of their websites. And I have to remind you that they each own more than 10 site domains at a minimum. The traffic that runs to your website will cause an Atomic Bomb explosion effect within a short time! Imagine the amount of traffic that will convert into your newsletter subscription list by just putting a little subscription box in your website.

All you have to do is to have your RSS feed being setup once in those RSS directory sites. Plus, high quality feeds have higher chance to be picked up by webmasters in BULK.

If you notice that almost every ‘Article Directories’ has an option to provide webmasters the feed for those articles that are being submitted. Having such option has already caught many of these portal site builders’ attention. They come, they search and they start feeding your RSS feeds into their websites.

This is like a fresh new gold mine for the builders, RSS feeds have solved all their problems on having fresh new contents being delivered right into their website 24/7. I urge you (article writers) to take advantage of this great opportunity right now and start to blast traffics to your websites. RSS feeding is their gold mine for new content, and now it has become yours

Here are 3 easy steps on how you may get started.

1. Setup a blog with Wordpress from www.wordpress.org, or you can setup a free blog from Blogger.com at www.blogger.com. Remember, you don’t have to be “formal” when comes to posting blog.

[Important]: For Wordpress Users, before you start posting anything to your site, remember to insert a list of ping sites to your ping list to Ping your Blog (for Search Engines to visit your new post and start indexing your blog pages). It is located at Options >> Writing >> Update Services (scrolled down). You can see that “http://rpc.pingomatic.com/” has already been added by default. Blogger.com Users please follow Step 3.

2. When you have done all the above, submit your blog RSS feed to all the top ‘RSS Directories’. The URL for RSS looks like this: http://www.webblogerz.com/feed/. Here’s a list of RSS directory sites for you to get started at www.masternewmedia.org/rss/top55

3. (Wordpress Users may skip this step) After submitting your RSS feed to the directories, for Blog and Ping method, go to a free ping service call Ping-O-Matic. Follow the instruction by filling in the forms and then submit.

I’m sure this will definitely help you to get more traffic by implementing this new revolution of RSS Viral Marketing Strategy.

Remember, business cannot grow for just having new ideas, taking actions is always the turn key to every success!

The asthma drug Zyflo fails to help patients with severe acne, according to a mid-stage trial carried out by the company Critical Therapeutics Inc. The drug, also known as zileuton, was neither better at controlling the number of inflammatory lesions than placebos under the company statistics.

Over the 12-week trial, patients treated with Zyflo had an average reduction of 11.5 inflammatory lesions. That compared with a reduction of 9.1 lesions in a group of other patients taking placebos – far short of achieving statistical significance.

Patients treated with placebo showed a reduction of 16.4 lesions in the placebo group, but patients treated with Zyflo showed a mean reduction in the total number of lesions of 25.3.

The company stated the medicine showed a trend of potential benefit to some patients although the drug failed the primary goal of the trial.

Linda Lennox, the company spokeswoman, told the company will probably conduct a larger trial testing the medicine as an acne treatment, using information gleaned from the small recent “proof of concept” trial.

The company based in Lexington, Massachusetts, said that it is continuing to analyze the data and is working with the investigators to further interpret the results.

Zyflo blocks an inflammation-causing enzyme called 5 lipoxygenase (5-LO). It was approved by U.S. regulators in 1996 for treating asthma patients 12 years of age and older. At the time, the drug was owned by Abbott Laboratories Inc., which sold it for a number of years before licensing it to Critical Therapeutics in late 2003.

I know what its like to feel lonely, with no-one to turn to for help or advice, maybe you`ve just lost someone you loved and feel no-one else can help you but they can, you can also help yourself.

In this article im gonna share with you an idea that works for me when I’m feeling lonely.

Grab a piece of pen and a bit of paper and write a letter, pretend you are writing the letter to send off to an agony aunt or someone that you feel comfortable talking to, and in this letter write down everything that is bothering you, and explain why it is that you feel lonely.

Once you have finished writing the letter, go grab yourself something to eat and forget about the letter for a while.

After a couple of hours or days etc open up the letter, but this time read it as if you were the agony aunt, read the entire letter and write a reply giving your advice to this troubled person.

Now compare the two letters and see if you have answered your problems by yourself, also see if its helped identify the source of the problem.

Hopefully the outcome of this will give you some confidence in talking about your problems and will also help you be better at giving advice to friends.
